Hamilton Potter's Guild Show & Sale - October 15, 2020

The annual show held by the Hamilton Potter's Guild looked different this year. It is usually an indoor event in the Dundas community centre, but, like many other things this year, it was adapted to keep attendees safe and COVID free.

Ancaster's outskirts are home to many farms, rural businesses, and the Ancaster Fairgrounds, which hosted the potters and a horse show simultaneously. Inside Gate 1 a food truck set up shop nearby aisles of canopies over each display of varied ceramics while echoes from the horse show floated over everything.

The area of the show itself was cordoned off and volunteers stood at the entrance to ensure only 100 people were inside at a time. Casually curious, diehard collectors, and those with little else to do stood in line for about two hours before gaining access. Organizers collected contact information and provided hand sanitizer upon entry.

The event also serves as a fundraiser for Hamilton Foodshare. Buy a donated soup bowl and the proceeds go to help feed families in need.

Fiona Wheelband of Wheelband Pottery said that they (food share) provide food and we (potters) provide things to hold the food in.
